Yes, the internet is fairly young; it still has its baby teeth and enjoys its chew-toy. What I'm really trying to say is that the internet is NOT set in stone; It still has room for unexplored and unique ideas. The internet likes bizarre things, creepy thing, and old things with a new angle on them (just take a look at some of the stuff that's popular on YouTube.) Do you have new twist on an old idea? If you do, build a website for it!
The little guy has a chance to compete:
The internet is still a place where the "average Joe" can carve out a nice income. You don't' need a ton of money to get started (in fact you can get started for less than the cost of an Xtra-Large Pizza!) All you need are a Domain Name and a Hosting Account... and Ka-Boom, you're in business. With Social Media and other tools like YouTube and an autoresponder, you can market your website just like to Big Dogs do.
So Simple a Zombie Could do it!
Back in the day, building a website use to be a massive hassle. You had to learn a lot of technical jibber-jabber called HTML/CSS in order to build a website. Or worse, you had to pay someone to do it (Yucky!) Thankfully, all of that has changed. Nowadays, creating a website is just a matter of knowing where to click; it's brain-dead simple. So simple, a Zombie could do it. (and here is proof http://humansvszombies.org/ ) Now, if these knuckle-heads can create a successful website, then so can you.
The Terrorist Will Win!
If you don't create your website, then the terrorist win! Just kidding, just kidding. But if YOU never attempt it, you will definitely lose. You can create a website that is designed around your "passion" (did I really use the "P" word?) Seriously though, you can create a website based on your hobby or whatever it is that "turns you on." I'm sure there is at least one idea that's been bouncing around in your head, that you'd like to create a website for. Go ahead and do it. Self expression is a wonderful thing.
So come join the other curios, creative, weird, expressive, and "loco" people who've taken the leap and created their own website. Come and dip your toe in; the water feels just fine.
